Mr. Thomas Yap is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Loss Adjusters (C.I.L.A.) of the U.K. and member of the Federation European Loss Adjusting Experts with more than 30 years experience in loss adjusting and retired as an executive director of Crawford & Company Adjusters (M) Sdn Bhd in 2012. Mr. Thomas Yap is well recognized by the local insurance industry as an expert in business interruption (also known as loss of profit or consequential loss) insurance.

During his entire career as a loss adjuster, Mr. Thomas Yap had gained vast experience in all classes of general insurance claims, in particular major property damage and financial losses, specializing in Business Interruption losses following physical property damage. He is often approached to give advice on matters related to this class of insurance, including coverage and complex issues on business interruption claims. He had also worked in Hong Kong and Taiwan, was involved in handling complex business interruption claims involved semi-conductors and telecommunication losses in the 921 earthquake in 1999.

From his hands on experience handling claims and also supervising claims handled by fellow adjusters, Mr. Thomas Yap noticed a major contributing factor on delay in business interruption insurance claim settlement is the lack of professional advice to claimants, in particular complex business interruption claims. It is our aim to take the service available to the public that includes corporate and individual claimants, insurance intermediaries, solicitors and accountants.
